i am aware, i have ~$2k worth of boots right now and do leather repairs for a local store
getting leather wet fucks up the leather if you are going to be manipulating it (such as wearing it on your foot and walking)
constantly oiling leather fucks it up as the leather cannot shed excess moisture naturally
having non-leather boots means you don't have to fuck up your nice boots by constantly doing shit to them that they dont need/want
