Because both cultural and gender-based conditions in the Western world demand women to be in certain senses the cultivators of comfortability, love, and stability in the family dynamic and beyond, whereas men assume other necessary traits such as courage, ruthlessness, and deliberation for similar reasons.

If I had a plow and a shovel and had two jobs to do-- planting a field and digging a hole-- it would only make sense that I use the plow for its rightful task and the shovel for its rightful task, even though I could IMAGINE a circumstance where it would be easier for someone to use each tool for the other task.

No amount of re-education, historical revisionism and politicalization is going to change these things although the idea is very much in fashion
