They are mass produced in very poor conditions and that reflects in their price. The reason they are so cheap is because there are a million+1 of them and when one breaks you can just toss it. The only upside is that you wont need too take it in for repair and can just throw it away but dont be surprised when this cost over years ends up being more than just one decent one from a better era/company/region

You clearly do not know what you are talking about.
Even their late quartz pieces have worked for 30 to 40 years without any problem in some cases.
Their mechanicals are generally better from early era (60s and 70s), but even the later variants work very well.
It is your own fault that you use vostok komandirskie which is a absolute piece of shit watch as a reference point for the whole industry.
Like taking a swatch sistem 51 and them making a conclusion that the whole swiss industry is shit.

In the pic there is one of the best soviet movements made.
