It starts with a stone wall and an old iron gate, painted black but bubbling with rust. It’s right off of the main road from highway 39 to the beach. Three-quarters of the way down the coastal evacuation route. Don’t waste your time visiting any old night the mood strikes you - You’ve got a two month window between the middle of November and the ass-end of January. Maybe a bit longer if the temperatures stay low enough.

Nobody else will admit to this, but you can listen to the wind – it sort of howls, whipping around the pump house, around the dead trees and over the hills towards the graves. It howls deep – the sound is almost like a fox on the coldest nights. Those are the nights you want to go. You want to wait amongst the graves, and listen for that cry. You’ll know it when you hear it, and you’ll be safe, so long as you stay near the headstones.
