Much like the build quality of sneakers or whatever would be relevant in a shoe thread, the build quality of watch movements is relevant in a watch thread. Shoes with nice flashy looks and horrible stitching that falls apart would be called out, as will watches with flashy marketing and lowest-tier movements.
