It's weird, you sort of can but it's not the same, you can buy a seiko SKX and change every part, coin edge bexel, ceramic bezel insert, double domed sapphire crystal with antireflective coating on the inside, fancy dial with applied indices made out of meteorite or whatever tickles your fancy and high quality lume. Replacement hand set, swap the nh35 movement with a 6r15. But at the end of the day you still have a seiko SKX, probably with the same or maybe actually worse water resistance. It's not going to do anything any differently than it did before, it might just look cooler (assuming you have good taste)
