humans are built to rationalize. do you claim to only want a watch for functionality? look at a smartphone. want one to impress normies? get any replica, they won't be able to tell the difference and you'll get an ephemeral social boost. but there's much grey area between those two polarities, and it's a difficult sell to enthusiasts when there are so many great genuine pieces (with their own history and appeal) to chase
