nah im not. obvs standards of beauty are different around the world but u also got to recognize that globalization -- the expansion of euroamerican corporations and media AND the rise of a global middle class w/ newly disposable income -- means that the ideals & standards of beauty in powerful western nations are increasingly integrating nd overpowering the ones in non-western communities. look @ the diffusion of american fashion & beauty in2 eastern asia. i am really not in a position 2 speak as an expert on this situation cuz of course i am a white female but lyk clearly i wasnt born w/ the genetic trait of idolizing skinny white blonde girls either. its smth instilled in us through cultural institutions. just b/c thats taking place at a different time in the life of this woman and her peers doesnt also mean its not taking place. just another facet of imperialism tbh
