Joan definitely knows her shit, and I think she says a lot of stuff for laughs even though deep down she knows why she ought not to be saying it.
She's also coming from a certain older, more established POV, though. I feel like she's earned the right to just blurt out what's on everyone else's minds whether they'll admit it or not.

On the real tho, the show is shit and the guests are shit and I'm glad I don't have it playing in the background anymore.

The "easiest" way to acquire a whole bunch of cash that I know of is in Real Estate - specifically, renting apartments. It's still not easy by a longshot, but with 45 hours of education (in many states), some people skills and a bit of drive you can pull down thousands of dollars a month relatively easily.
I say relatively because you're still up against all the other agents who want your deals, and lord knows they're a hungry lot. I suggest it because at least around these parts it's possible to make enough cash to live easy with about 1-2 weeks of work a month. And I live in NYC, where the cost of living is astronomical.
Of course, this is assuming you've built a client base, researched your area to hell and back, are capable of networking and know how to make strangers laugh or otherwise feel at ease.
I know many people who've pulled themselves out of poverty like this. People who had no hope and no future a 5 years ago and now go shopping in France.
However, for every one of them there are countless failures, people who couldn't or didn't really want to make the grade. You have to make your area your entire life and really get hungry until you start getting networked and get a feel for the job. It's not easy, but I really believe that it's the quickest way from A to B in a society where decent midlevel jobs have gone the way of the dodo.

That 68k your family lost on that home they sold? Look at it this way: The money didn't just vanish. Someone else made 68k. Why shouldn't that someone be you?
