Chelseas look best if you're tall and skinny, but I definitely wouldn't go so far as to say you shouldn't wear them if you don't have the body of an slp model.
Try some on OP and you should be able to tell yourself if they look okay. I have no idea by what you mean by "average body" but as long as you're not obese they should be fine and like the above poster said, wear them with skinnies. If you're short don't get a huge heel. The guy in pic related is short and is wearing the wyatt chelseas, but if you had to post this thread, you can't pull those off

I disagree with the height part. I say this as someone who is quite short, so I'm admittedly a little defensive, but I think it looks good as long as you're skinny and don't have weird proportions.

pic related is not me, but that guy may be 5'5" at most and he definitely looks good.

I agree with the idea that it's typically either merely a display of wealth or full on Slimane worshipping, though.
