I recently rediscovered this variant, it's the first Weekdater that came out, and i'm starting to like it. Some of its design elements later got split between the 6206-8990 (the one i have, the lumed version) and the 6218-8970/8971. Some versions even had the 30 in 'water 30 proof' in blue.
The 6206 inherited the case and the text minus the applied gyro logo which is just printed on the 6206, and the star below the day, but lost the day window frame and got a new set of more blocky indices.
The 6218-8970 has the same shaped markers but they're all the same length, and the framed day window but got a new, sleeker case, and the 'Seikomatic' was moved above the day window and replaced with the current Seiko logo.
The 6218-8971 then lost the gyro logo and the little star under the day window.
That concludes today's Weekdater history lesson.
