I've never drunk (drank? fuck me) in my life solely for the reason that most booze tastes like liquid cancer.
I don't understand how people can unironically enjoy beer and wine. Most of it is bitter, beer tastes like what you describe (inb4 try good beer, I live in Ireland, fuck off), harder alcohols taste like varying flavours of bowel disease, wine tastes like vomit and grape juice.

Only alcoholic drink I've actually enjoyed was cider and something made in Sweden that tastes like Christmas.

I'm thoroughly convinced most people drink just to get plastered and end up getting used to the taste. Like their palate suffers from severe Stockholm Syndrome.

I can enjoy most things in life but alcohol is not one of them.
