Hair has to be clean to lock. I just use Dr.bronner's magic soap or a natural clarifying shampoo (like kinky-curly come clean)

nope, it just doesn't look good on them. Locks look better on a certain hair type, the ones that tends to look fine and get tangled; I would say 3b-4c hair.
