Can you post some good, non-slicked back Hitler Youths?

I want to cut my own hair more or less like this. Long on top, shaved sides and back. Aka sort of HY.

How do I do it? What are some good tips? My hair always ends up falling to the sides and on my face and looks like Jim Carrey in dumb and dumber almost. Do I need to go higher and cut more off?

Also, post some more pics please, I need inspiration.

Good things to tell your barber

1. How high or low you want your cut to be (as in, where it goes from short to long). If its your first HY, go with lower. A lot of shitty HY's are done by making the line super high, and just having long hair on the very top of the skull. This almost always looks like shit. Real HY's from the 20's and 30's have their line starting around an inch above the ear.

2. Do you want a visible line or a fade? If you're not sure, go with a fade. The line is more dramatic but also it doesn't grow out as well and naturally as a fade.
3. How short do you want your sides to be? Do you want to be able to see your scalp or not?

Here's an example of a non-faded HY. There's a point where there will be a line separating the short sides from the long top. Looks cool in this photo, but I'd advise against it.
