Pic related is of three open-heart models in my price range (sizes are not to scale). For all these models, the center bearing of the exposed balance wheel is not aligned with the horizontal center of the watch (green lines). Sure, the Hamilton and Tissot both share the same ETA calibre (supposedly, ETA's H-10), but even with the Baume & Mercier, that bearing is not aligned.

Can we have an educated horological discussion about why these models---and many other models not included in the picture---are not aligned? Is there something fundamental to a movement's design why alignment is not (easily) accomplished?
