I'll give you a brief summary of every pomade/hair product I've ever used.
>Paul Mitchell Clean Cut Styling Cream
Holds decent, looks natural, smells fresh, white opaque (looks like lotion), water based. Normally it's ~$20, I got mine for free through a stylist. 8/10
>Dax Vegetable Oil Pomade
Holds well, hair looks a bit shiny when applied, smells like you'd expect (decent, but not the best), green, best packaging of all my pomades, but that has nothing to do with the quality, oil based, around $5 at Sally's. I use this one most days because it's not as harsh as Murray's and it seems to be good for my hair. 7/10
>Murray's Pomade
Holds the best, hair looks shiny, but not disgustingly, smells rosy without being feminine, oil based, what more can be said? It's a classic, downside is it's a bit harsh, use lightly. It's not as hard to wash out, just don't apply liberally. I use this on days I want to look a little more polished, $3 pretty much anywhere. 8/10
>Axe Clean Cut Pomade
Holds great, smells delicious, water based, hair doesn't look too shiny, transparent purple. The only downside is the price--it's $8 and seems to go faster than the Murray's and Dax. 9/10

The numerical ratings are based on quality of the pomade alone, not price, packaging, or personal color preference, hah.
Ask me anything if you want.
