The nature of white nationalism has always been muddles and awkward, most because of the nature of the white diaspora. American white nationalists tend to have some notion of all people of European descent being nothing more than white, almost going so far as to deny the existence of the myriad nations of Europe. On the other hand, you have people that will insist that the cultures of Europe are completely unrelated, that the differences between Spain and Germany may as well be Spain and China. There needs to be a happy medium; there is certainly a unity between European cultures that needs to be recognized, but it cannot be allowed to replace those existing cultures in favor of some grotesque all-encompassing monoculture.
America is far more simple. The European diaspora here once retained more distinct ethnic identities, but at this point, for better or worse, we are all white. And this is what we have to work with. White nationalism in the usual understanding only has a place in America, and perhaps Canada and Australia. Otherwise, it is irrelevant, if not a destructive idea.
Pan-African identity has resulted in the slow erasure of Khoi-san culture in favor of a Bantu majority, just as an example of this tendency.
