Yea if I ever buy a rolex it's going to be an oysterquartz. That thing actually has an interesting movement. That and you don't have to suck the ADs dick to get one.

It is a fantastic watch. As far as I know it is the only wristwatch with a voltage controlled oscillator. The fork based escapement is also excellent, though not unique.

The JLC Masterquartz has a GP Cal 352. The 352 is a fine movement - basic 32KHz with a stepper motor. I'm not actually clear on whether it was the first 32KHz watch or if Seiko's 35/38 series beat them to it. In any case, it's often highlighted as the first quartz watch with a modern design - 32KHz tuning fork quartz, stepper motor.

The oysterquartz is I'd say a much higher quality watch. Finishing aside (which is also significantly better than the JLC, I'd say), the oysterquartz has a pallet fork escapement and a voltage-controlled crystal oscillator, a much higher-quality movement.
