you're basically throwing a temper tantrum at this point.

you misunderstood me. i buy rick owens because he matches up very well with my personal aesthetic vision and everything is exceptional as a design object. i don't need to reconcile my purchases with any deeper meaning, even if i can, because i love it on a very visceral level.

>The Lotus aren't any more interesting than any other folded/draped short

actually, it's bias cut throughout and utilizes clever paneling in order to maintain on grain seaming and prevent excessive waste while being folded first into two layers, then into four, and given a kangaroo pocket to boot. i get it, you're a buyer, this is a commodity to you and the craft is totally lost to your eyes because for some reason you've never taken it upon yourself to develop a little bit of an education in this field even though the information should be especially available to you.

and by the way, it's not "a tee, some lotus shorts, and a beanie"; it's a cement slab set into a foundation marbled by weather perched atop a pair of black columnar plinths and wreathed in fungal browns. the outfit was totally thoughtful, what was thoughtless was this trite criticism you vomited forth from that distended anal gape where your mouth ought to be. why is someone apparently so passionate about fashion bleating such clinical nonsense and trying to pass it off as critique? was there any point to your rant except to imply that i'm somehow consuming a product incorrectly? is the irony that all of your fits can be similarly reduced to "tshirt, some jeans, and some boots" lost on you?

normally i just don't listen to the nonsense you post when you try to tackle fashion from a design perspective, always with this amorphous language because you don't have the vocabulary to flesh out your thoughts, but i'm running out of patience with you. in short: blow it out your ass.

>pea jacket/pea coat 1. copy of a U.S. sailor's hip-length, straight, double-breasted navy-blue wool coat with notched lapels, vertical slash pockets, and vent in back. Inspiration for coats designed by Yves Saint Laurent in Paris in 1960s, and a classic coat style for men, women, and children. Also called pea coat and formerly called pilot coat. 2. From 1830s on, man's double-breasted, unfitted thigh-length jacket with wide lapels and notched collar. Worn either as an overcoat or as a suit jacket. In 1850s had large buttons, usually six. Also called a pilot coat. Der. So called because it was made of "pilot cloth." From 1860 known as a reefer.
- The Fairchild Dictionary of Fashion, Charlotte Mankey Calasibetta and Phyllis Tortora, Third Edition.

a single breasted coat ceases to be a pea coat, by definition. this isn't a "formalism", it's a question of accuracy and consistency.

>I'm not sure why you brought suit jackets into the equation, I fail to see what you're trying to say.

that a military tradition is irrelevant because m65s and pea coats are not the same thing and are not subtitutes for one another, and their military traditions are entirely separate to boot. one is a simple protective, possibly rain proof coat and the other is an insulating winter coat. both have different connotations and will bring different moods to an outfit.

it's not a difficult proposition at all, which is why i'm floored when i have to explain it to supposedly educated people.
