Try Antaeus if you want dark mysterious mossy herbal. (You can do mental gymnastics about being Antaeus subtle.)

Subtle darkness mysteriousness are really hard to do, even Sauvage can't do that, modern(which means it's not a grandma or old guy smell) fragrance moreso.

Try L'Artisan Voleur de Roses and Domenico Caraceni 1913. (They are all roses.) And Bleu de Chanel, TF Oud Wood, Bvlgari Man Black Cologne, and Dior Fahrenheit.
