I don't. I graduated high school about a year and half ago and have been working straight ever since. It's been rough after losing my GF and the career I was hoping for.

If I know the host/hostess well enough, I'll show up early and have a few beers or so, that way everyone has to meet me, not the other way around. If I don't really know the host/hostess, I'll show up and just throw myself into it. It's not hard. You just have to be completely open and honest. Being forthcoming can also help people relax around you. Point is, if you strike up a conversation with someone or the other way around, toss some jokes in, be open, don't be embarrassed, etc. I used to be very shy, never touched alcohol, etc, but I'm tired of being the old me. I'm not saying you should suddenly become a clubslut, but don't be afraid to be confident in yourself.
