I'm looking for some good winter boots, anyone know if Red Wing 875's are any good in snow/wet conditions?

I'm OP and would've agreed with the people who dilike them a few months ago, but they have grown on me until I finally bought them. They just work better for me than the alternative Iron ranger cowboy boot.

Unless the CPs are a moccasin stitch, which they don't seem to be (but maybe they are), neither serves any structural purpose. I was posting the Alden Indy as an example of an apron toe that was less tasteless IMO.

If it's serving any structural purpose on the CPs, the design of the shoe is downplaying that fact. It doesn't look like much of a moc toe, even compared to some of the more structured-looking moc toes like Red Wing's moc toe boots. (and in any case the main reason I put up with the shape on Red Wing's boots is because it's grounded in the brand's history).

Are they? Well, you could have fooled me. the transition from one piece of leather to the other looks so seamless that it looks like if the apron wasn't there it would just be a plain toe boot underneath. I don't like moc toes that try to look like apron toes any more than I like apron toes.

just get the boot they're copying, it's not like the red wing 875 is overpriced

also has anyone seen the new 875s yet? (they updated the leather or something)

I haven't seen them in person yet. I hope it's worth paying for the increase in price.

I'm hesitant with things like >pic realted out there, granted the price.

materials look bad. the top looks really dumb and and over-designed. The apron toe isn't working for me.

My opinion is don't cop. You would be so much better-off copping the new Red Wing 875 (Red Wing's classic boot, with a new leather that is supposedly more true to the boot's roots).
