Nah there is so many watches that you can have a cool range of sub 1,000 shit, you mention respect but thats just you and people that stay inside of a smaller luxury circle. The bigger watch community online is all about shitters whether you agree with it or not, a vague vintage seiko or no name microbrand with a cool design will get respect from within those circles. "BUT THOSE ARE CIRCLES OF SHITTER OWNERS!!!!" would be the response, but it's a majority game, if there is endless yt channels, forums, watch groups on fb, here, etc. etc. for shitters then I will get the content and validation (if I'm after it) that I want.

angry that people are managing to get satisfaction out of non luxury watches when he has paid thousands, the overarching futility of trying to gatekeep this hobby as it gets more popular online. Even watchbox gave in with TGV, every other luxury video that isn't archie you go on there is some people going "why don't you cover watches under ______" or a lower tier brand

Yeah thats cool but when 90% of the hobby is "wannabes" then who cares? it's semantics. Saying a person isn't a collector, or a hobbyist, or their watches aren't a collection, okay?
