Vintage, but one that's gold all the way tends to be way more expensive. Gold plated is alright, but it will eventually wear off, and it will be noticeable.

Source: Just look up vintage fountain pens and look for ones where the gold is somehow coming off even though that part of the nib shouldn't be touching anything, or any "high end brands" like pelican or montblanc that sometimes pull this shit
