I bought this at the Scottsdale Omega Boutique last month, it's the Hesalite Moonwatch 3861. My opinion is: for your first luxury watch to buy new, so that every scratch is yours, and you know the exact status of the service life and story. Do not buy with investment in mind, buy with the full intent to wear it to your own funeral, for the first one. Yes you "lose" 1k walking out the door, but this shouldn't be about return on investment.

I prefer the Hesalite as a domed crystal gives a warmth and vintage feel to the dial that works very well with a 1960s design. Sapphire sandwich is also 1k more.

The other user is recommending you to buy a used previous model (1861) which is a fine watch, but objextively "worse" in features. Aesthetics are up to you, but unless you're buying a copper plated "pre-moon" movement you're not buying an actual moonwatch regardless. In my opinion the 3861 is the best speedmaster yet produced: most accurate, longest service life, most magnetic resistance, and most features.

Tldr, I recommend you save and buy from a Boutique if you can, and AD if you can't because warranty matters on these, the debate over "what is a true moonwatch" isn't winnable unless it's a pre 1968. Don't rush your first nice watch, unlike other brands, Omega will always have a moonwatch in stock.

That's what it says and Omega wouldn't tell a lie.

They gave me a bottle of champagne too when I bought it.
