I've been on 4chan for almost ten years now and the recipe for a comfy thread is to be super friendly, contribute, form discussion (open questions help, questioning other anons, always asking a question back when they ask you a question, etc), and disarming negative posts. There is a bit of a judgement here that comes from experience, but, if there is a negative post that you aren't sure is a troll post, you respond with something very friendly despite their negativity. If you have a few niceposters (niceposting isn't just a meme if you don't treat it that way and are genuine - which is the key), it goes a really long way. I've seen using this method work on even r9k, where someone trolling will often buckle and be kinda friendly because you've asked how their day is going and shown them love. A lot of shitposters aren't really bad people, they're just shitposting for keks and if they get an opportunity to have someone talk to them and show them love a lot of times they'll take it and it can be really magical. What doesn't work is responding with more shitposting, or staying completely quiet and letting the shitposting overflow the thread.

That easterposter, for example, I talked to and he's soft as taffy and really friendly. He's just a shitposter and that's fine. And the different type of shitposters, the /pol/tards and robots, posting bitter comments want nothing more than a chat most the time it just takes you to get them going.

I'm not saying I'm right, but, just give it a go.

tl;dr contribute and nicepost constantly and be kind to /everyone/, especially shitposters and negative types, to keep the thread comfy. It grows a thread culture of comfy.

OP here. This is the last thread I'll be around to make for a while. I make about 95% of these, so I hope someone else is willing to take over.

Just wait until the thread reaches 310 (or the image limit of 150 if we ever hit it, but, I've never seen that happen), copy and paste the OP content into a new thread, replace the 'last thread' link, then link the new one in the old one.

Good luck to you all with your progress.
