Is this guy's hair a good look to go for, or is it an over-the-top joke like the tone of the ad?

If my hair is stubborn and likes to go straight down, could I pull it off?

Here's my face and my hair. The three inset photos show the hairstyle I've had since October. I tried going for a Ryan Gosling type cut, but it's since grown out. I'm not sure if I should cut it shorter or let it go a bit more.

The beard is a work-in-progress and I'm looking for any and all tips on maintaining it.

As far as fashion, this is my first post on /fa/. I wore jeans and a bunch of Hawaiian shirts when the earlier picture was taken. Now I'm more into blue jeans and shirts like this one.
