im not solid on this so i wont go too far into it, but theres also a lot of victorian influence -- even in ss14 (which is getting napped on hard) -- and emphasis on dressing to or across class divisions. && a couple of her very first collections were overtly "street urchin" w/ the destruction in full effect ... so u could place that association of clothes w/ socioeconomic standing within the context of japan exploding in the world market, the rise of the middle class, & the blurring of those clear divisions. tho thats a global shift -- until wwii, u could almost always tell exactly who u were dealing w/ by their clothes alone.

u gotta watch out on rak tho b/c putting smth in ur cart doesnt reserve it -- other ppl can still buy it out from under u. that being said ...
