You've missed my point, but I like your ideas anyway. We are all standing on the shoulders of giants, but understand this idea:

A nation is a people. Ideally, a nation should be largely homogeneous like Japan, South Korea, Europe 60 years ago, in order for that distinction of "nation = people" to be made. The indigenous populations of Europe have been here on our homeland continent, building stable communities and civilisations for 10,000 years, so your point that my conception of race is moot - it's not, since we are a fundamentally compatible and similar group, as proven by the American project, but also as shown by the American project, Europeans cannot get on well with other groups and are clearly not liked or appreciated by them. Nowhere is this more prevalent than Europe today - we are, by many expert accounts, headed for a racial war.

Back to my point. A nation = a people. A nation invents a space programme, invents a new kind of supersonic jet, invents a new deep sea submarine, a new training simulation. It invents it for its people, and other countries have to send spies or pay handsomely for access to that invention, or they have to try and copy it. Do you have a problem with that? I am all for sharing medical technology, sharing food processing technology and health technology. But, for example, do you think a country (or more likely, the future Feudal Corporation Communities like in Silicon Valley) has to share its space programme to settle another planet with the rest of the world? Does it have to share its military secrets?
