You won’t go wrong with either. GP is still a bit of a niche contrarian brand but they’re certainly worth buying on their own merits and you can get a killer used watch from them for not much money relatively speaking. I expect GP and Ulysse Nardin to have a renaissance in the next decade because they bought their independence back. The JLC is just a classic design and a moonphase is a fun complication. It’s a pain to set though and it’s worth buying a watch winder if you care about it being accurate. Modern JLCs also have a transferable 8 year warranty if you register it.
