Someone wants to buy me katahdins as a gift, but I am pretty sure that I do not particularly want bulky boots. What can I find in a similar price range that is slimmer and could still hold up in rain/snow?

What is /fa/'s concensus on LL bean katahdins? i can get them for 168$. cop?

Where may I find cheap boots for uni? It's rainy as fuck where I live and I'm tired of getting my feet wet when I'm wearing my Vans. Beater boots that look decent enough.

Picture is Katahdin boots but I've heard the sizing is whack. Hopefully something slightly cheaper. Note that not I'm necessarily looking for quality boots that will last me until the heat death of the universe.
