I don't doubt you at all; it's gotten to that point where replacing movement will always be more cost-effective unless they are finished to a basic degree. There are enough low-end that use ETA that are in this category.

That's why (of course) I have a watchmaker who takes care of my watches. I've sent in the disposable, standard watches to Omega for servicing, but the vintage ones are only handled by my watchmaker. I will be in trouble when he dies. As I mentioned in the last thread, Anons who are new to the hobby will have trouble; Omega will not sell parts to independents unless they have an Omega Parts Account, so at least with that company, certain concerns that may crop up can only be solved 'in the system'. When Omega serviced my Seamasters, the results were in general acceptable, though I had to send the 2599.80 back (under warranty) in due to the chronograph issue. If it's not tritium, I'll have Omega service it directly. If it's tritium or/and older, my watchmaker is the only one who touches it.

But as I say, not everyone has this luxury. For most people, getting a vintage watch comes with a lot of learning and a lot of heartache, along with not knowing if your local watchmaker is screwing you for a buck.

Nah, neither are correct. Though I do agree, the priority here should be TudorAnon's new GS. So, this will be my last post for now.

Looking forward to seeing more pics of the fresh GS!!

New pic has the 321 with my lighter. Haven't done that yet...
