eh. probably nice for maximum longevity but nobody I know actually does this (and most put on too much oil/grease when they do treat them.). plus fit changes slightly with a full resole since they have to take in the upper a little bit to have something to stitch the new sole to, so keeping them resoleable beyond a certain point is kind of a waste imo.

having said that, I've been told that sealing your seams is a good move and that clear nail polish works well.
