i look for pure wool or cotton but settle for at least 80% natural. currently im wearing some cozy wool/silk socks from thunders love. i can also recommend sleet & sole, i have merino sport socks from them. for dress socks mes chausettes rouges stocks various pure wool or cotton ones from european makers. for the outdoors i used to wear darn tough, which are definitely functional and reliable but i just dont like that theyre half plastic. so i switched to REI which are like 85% wool. they feel a tiny bit rougher than darn touh and have pilled more rapidly, but they get the job done and have lasted like a year of heavy duty use so far.
i recently ordered some socks from this site: www.littlespruceorganics.com
which has lots of pure wool. the material felt nice but i underestimated how short the pairs i picked would be, and had to return them.

btw if anyone knows an alternative to ll bean's ragg wool socks, let me know. the look is iconic and cozy but theyre 20% plastic and not warm enough.

Forgot to mention. The easiest way to kick jeans up a notch to ivy/preppy is to wear them with loafers
