well, i gotta say that i've caught that same post-soviet vibe while getting familiar with UK through movies/music videos. for instance everything in the clockwork orange is VERY similar to 70's USSR, with a bit more colorful coating (pic related). so you can tell that some legacy obviously would've shown later, in UK of the 90's.
