The lunarcore look was always centered around the inclusion of heritage and tech in the same fit. What is techwear? For the most part, it's a good looking, highly specialized or versatile garment.
Think about what the vibes of competence and adaptability a good tech fit puts out. Now think about what might have given people that same vibe thirty years ago, 50 years ago. What was the techwear of that era? Probably a proper utilitarian riding boot or a battered leather. I don't know, this is a very open look. The important thing is that you balance it out with futurism in the rest of the fit. Certain garments will always be in style and we can expect to see leather jackets and cowboy boots well into the 22nd century.
I have a film suggestion for you, though. It's a western redone as early 80's SciFi with Sean Connery. It literally does costume its characters as blue collar space cowboys, and does a fairly good job of it. Imagine a western but it's on a space station. The film is "Outland".

Of course, the trap is straying too close to steampunk cosplay land. retrofuturism has to be done with care and panache.
