Sadly, it's the lack of shoulder definition in the design of the jacket that prevents you from covering the large stomach area. I wish there was a better solution.

>very sith though
Good....good....trust your feelings....

It's a dark jacket, for sure, but I always wanted a leather hooded long coat, and this one fit the bill. It was definitely outside my fashion comfort zone when I got it, but now it's just an extension of me like my other jackets.

That's what I'd do if I were you. There will always be other jackets....never have one in your stable that you won't wear or else it's a waste of money.

Look how the accentuated collars on the H&M define your shoulders, and make the V shape more prominent. This is what is lacking in your Pigskin version. Other thing to remember is that lighter colours accentuate width to the eye, so you'll always look fatter in a lighter coloured jacket unless the jacket is structured well or you're super fit/thin.

The lower jacket is a standard riding jacket, and you look fine in it. But that's the thing that most Anons don't know yet; proper riding jackets with armor are not /fa/ in the slightest. They're roomy in the right places, tight in the right places, and when worn off a bike they bulge in strange places.

Fashion houses have been trying to convert the riding aesthetic to daily wear for decades, and the only one that got close was Schott (this was helped because rock stars used to wear the Perfectos as well, throwing that design into the area of 'not only for bikers').

Fashion houses take the general design (where the zippers are, what kind of collar there is, etc.) and reformat it for daily wear. The sleeves get shorter, the external belt might be removed, the space at the elbows for armor is replaced by 'creative stitching', etc.

For my eye Anon, the lower jacket looks 'real', whereas the grey/brown one you have up top (that is new) looks 'fashion'. Know what I mean?

cont. last.

Regarding the alterations to the pic you provided. Hardware being rose gold will simply fade away with use and start to look silver, so that doesn't factor into it for me. Regarding removal of the coin pocket; for my eyes, it looks like the jacket is missing something when you do that. There's a lot of 'stuff' happening at the top of the jacket, but at the bottom there's...well...nothing.

There are perfectos without the star on the epulette, so that's no problem and doesn't really affect the look as much as the prestige. Lastly, the pic in your OP doesn't have a waist belt, which is yet another thing that makes the bottom middle of the jacket look empty. Granted, the belt is one of the biggest problems to wearing the Perfecto as a casual jacket; no walking into stores of fine porcelain unless you expect to accidentally destroy everything on display just by turning around suddenly.

The jacket in your OP is 'almost' a double-rider. That's my basic aesthetic problem with it. It's 'hinting' at the possibility of being tough, without going full out. For me, it feels try-hard. If you're going to do it, just do it and don't look back.

Here's an option, but it'll cost a little money. Consider buying a faux-leather double-rider (companies that make quick fashion like Top Man sell these things for 180$ or less). Not to ride with, but to wear as a casual jacket to see what happens to you socially. If you like the result, then you'll know to save up and spend the proper money on a real one. If it fails miserably, or if you don't like how people treat you and look at you, then you'll know not to go with the real thing.

Enough to kill a horse, skin it, and wear it as an awesome jacket... What about you, friendo?

A valid critique of the fit, but not the quality. Schott quality is still excellent, but they have changed their fit (like Wested, Aero, and the rest of them) because the absolute majority of the clientele is middle-aged, overweight, and American. That's the reality for any company. That being said, they have different cuts now (slim cut, or their vintage cut) which they use in specific models, so you can definitely get one that is 'normal' if you're fit.

Most leather these days (i.e. approx. 75% on the market) is tanned in Pakistan due to their lax laws regarding chemical pollution. Tanning leather is environmentally hazardous, and it costs money to clean the fluids before dumping them. Pakistan has no laws about this, so the tanning factories dump directly into the water source. It saves money, and everybody from Danier to Hugo Boss will use this if possible. The other approx. 25% comes from leather houses that farm their animals on the property (i.e. Wested used to do this, and Aero as well) or get it within their country (Schott does sometimes, and most Australian brands do as well).

Actually, they do. Just not if you're riding a bike for speed...then you usually need full armor, and specialist textiles.

The boxiness comes from a one-size-fits-all way of cutting leather. That's the reality for any budget leather jacket maker. Custom fit is the way to go if you are serious about it though, but it costs money. Either that, or buy the box and take it to a tailor so he can adjust the sleeve length and waist so that they fit you perfectly and not like your uncle's jacket.

It sounds silly, but I fucking love this jacket. The problem is that I've tried on Schott Perfectos and they look like shit on me. I've tried on other double-riders from other companies, and they look like shit on me. I accepted it last year that I simply can't wear them...but man...I still love the jacket. Anything can go with it too...pain in the ass.
