Look at this photo, it looks like he's a brownshirt, but actually hes a member of the National Socialist Motor Corps (NSKK) which was a subsidiary organization for automobile and motorcycle enthusiasts. The country was so infatuated with uniforms that people joked, "the German High Command has ordered all soldiers to begin wearing civilian clothes, in order to distinguish them from non-combatants." You say "every" group has similar symbols, but the fascists went much further beyond, the uniformity of appearance and the the solidarity that arose from it, even when rank was displayed openly, was principal to the fascists' efforts of creating a united people through class-cooperation. Creating and displaying belonging to a group is one of the basic principles of fascism, while other ideologies may arrive at it through necessity, for our interests its is an initial criterion.
