It's not a new phenomenon. People are not going bald younger or with greater frequency than they did centuries ago. It's just that this is /fa/, where everyone is hyper focused on balding for some reason.

How can I achieve something like this?

Karl XII has a receding hairline, admittedly, but is there some way to make this work?

Basically hair swept straight back on centre, parted on both sides of the crown and swept back towards the back of the head.
It should be possible without gel styling or spray, in theory. Paintings of Karl at age 16 had straight side-parted hair, paintings from age 18 onwards have his classic 'lion's mane' style.
