I tried on a size 8 1k mile before trying on the chip serv.

Though I can fit into the 8D (US) in the 1k's comfortably, the 8 in the serv boot was too tight on the widest part of my foot.

The salesman said that a 9 would just be longer, but an 8.5 might work as the half sizes are wider. Might want to confirm this by emailing chippewa first about half sizes though.

There's a thread on SF about them, and you'll probably find more sizing comparisons on there, but if you want mine:

Wolverine's 1k's are an 8D US for me.
From the top of my head, I fit into 8F (UK) for Loake's Mayfair and 026 lasts.
42 for CP's, Buttero tan's et. al (since sneakers are more stretchy anyway, I don't know how that is useful)
An 8F in Sander's M265 last.
In RW Becks and IR's the 8D US gives some heel slippage, but the 7.5 D is just a bit too short for the right boot.
Can't remember my doc's sizing.
RMW craftsman 8G

Tried on an OSB chukka and that was 8.5D.

Perhaps, if you fit in a whole sized wolverine 1k, then the chip serv will be a half size larger unless you have narrow feet. (mine are "standard" just edging on wide). BUT

This is why I don't like giving out this kind of comparison; it's entirely useless since everyone has differently shaped feet - sure, we may take the same numerical size, but though one last may fit you, it may not fit me because of the way our feet are different. I may prefer shoes with maybe more or less wriggle room for comfort.

Numerical size is just the tip of the iceberg, and I would encourage anyone to try on the shoes they want to buy first in person. If you're an American you're lucky to have online stores that have free return shipping so you can try on multiple sizes with only a time loss.

Man that would be so helpful.

Anyway, maybe you found that useful, but more likely not.

These are Chevalier Cap-toe boots in "secret brown" or some shit.

The nicer version is made out of chromexcel, but these are some more ordinary leather.

The cheapest and closest alternative to that Viberg service boot style is from an Indonesian shoe company.
They have to be custom ordered too, take a month and cost about 200 - shipping.
