I haven't found anything that aligns with me as well as Lemaire's brand of humility and stoicism. I find that menswear is often either too tame or too out-there for me. I'm aware that finding areas to innovate that don't cross the boundary between wearable and conceptual is difficult. I value attention to detail more than flashiness -- covert innovation accompanied by flawless execution. That's Lemaire to me: variations on a theme, solid silhouette and controlled movement, geometric purity, calm order, natural and subdued color. His pants and coats are out of this world. I find that there's a link between his vision and classic French aesthetic ideals (e.g. Alain Delon, Belmondo, L-F Celine, Camus)

I have lots of respect for the usual suspects Yohji, Rick, Raf, Lang. Some collections from Prada and Dior have caught my eye; they've mostly managed to keep a sane control of their image. Marni, sometimes. Slimane and Jun Takahashi used to be my ideal, and again much respect, but I've changed a great deal since then.

Interestingly womenswear is often more attractive to me. For example, Raf's time at Dior (which I like more than any menswear he's done) was stellar and a testament to understated, humble detail. If you haven't, check out the incredible construction details in ss16, my favorite. Christopher Kane's aw15 and ss16 are also very strong at times. Lemaire's womenswear is great as well.

That's enough from me. Do you have any particular designer you feel strongly about? I'm sure you're more knowledgeable than I am.
