Take a look at the TWSBI line of pens, they come standard with a 1.5mm stub nib option (specify if you order) that will give you plenty of shading and run from $50 up. I do not own any of these pens so I cannot personally vouch for their QC but they have been well received thus far by pen enthusiasts.
