I think it's fair to say any of the 'greats' such as Lain, FLCL, CB, Evangallion, Akira are all up there. Bonus points if they contain themes of isolation, depression, or similar.

Then you have more modern stuff, such as Kill la Kill, which works through it's outrageousness, not that I've seen it.

What are /fa/'s opinions on this?
