The shorts I used to wear in high school all got holes in them within months simply from my phone wearing through he fabric as I walk. I'm currently wearing a pair of shorts that I've had for over 2 years now, have played sport in a climbed mountains in and don't have a single hole in them.

I didn't really believe the whole 'buy nice, not twice' thing and used to buy from surf and skate shops exclusively. A friend convinced me to buy Carhartt WIP shorts earlier this year and here is the result. The pair on the left are from billabong and had been worn a month, the hole is from my phone rubbing through from inside the pocket. The pair on the right is a year old from Carhartt, the only signs of aging are a bit of fading.

I know carhartt isn't expensive and probably uses production as ethical as other brands, but there stuff is damn durable
