The idea of a "lost Europe" post WWII is what Neofolk's military and romantic aesthetic derives from (at least in part). Neofolk is, in large part, a nostalgic call-back to a time that never really was and is no longer known. Those feelings can easily be shared by Native Americans, whose histories have been ravaged, and by non-indigenous Americans, who long for principles of liberty that were never established as truly as the constitution supposedly guaranteed.
