The "perfect pencil" is Graf von Faber-Castell's (GvFC) flagship.

It obviously isn't much better than a regular wooden pencil. You could argue the graphite is better or the cedar is sharpens easier... but such traits are indiscernible. And even if they weren't, they hardly warrant such an obscene price tag. If you're simply looking to buy a pencil that writes and nothing else, then GvFC's $500 silver pencil holder or their $180 eraser holder are both totally dumb.

If, however, you're buying them as a fashion statement, then they may be worth it. If you're buying them because you appreciate works of art (they're handmade in Germany by a company that's been producing pencils for 300 years), then they may be worth it.
