it's like an itchy burning sensation. if your hair is naturally really dark, theyll have to leave it in longer which means it hurts worse.
when i had my hair light i would basically shower normally (use a purple toning shampoo like shimmer lights to keep it white/platnium and not yellow) and then after i got out i'd put deep conditioner in for about 10 min, then rinse it out again. i used pic related, works pretty well.
