I was very fortunate; right place at the right time, so I paid a fraction of its market value. It was a one-owner, and he wanted it to go to someone who would keep it, appreciate it, and most importantly, wear it. He didn't want it to go to a flipper for profit.

I know the history of the watch, and I'll never sell it. It's too special. You hear from people about how the history of a watch 'makes it special'. In this case, because I knew the man, it is.

Agreed, exceptional value for money. The reason I don't have one is that I find their designs ugly as shit. That might be why they are exceptional value for money, of course.

I actually like Mahrk fram Lahng Eyelan Wahtch daht Calm; he's honest about what he does (i.e. move merch). He has really sad looking eyes though....but he doesn't pretend to be something he isn't.

I do too...for a while, I wanted to get one. All because of Clive Cussler, of course, and because in the diving community they are utterly unique and well-respected.

Crazy thing is that they had them for the early ETA-based movements before...Prince William still wears a mid-size Seamaster Quartz that Princess Diana gave him. If they brought out midsize, they'd kill it...but I think the problem is with the co-axial movement.

I think this is cool. I've never bought out of a boutique before, so I'm glad they gave you and royal treatment. Love your 3861 btw...thinking of getting one if/when they land on the moon again. Is it performing well?
>protip - STEPDIALS RULE!!!, see pic.

I do too....both the Mark40 and the Grail exhibit a 24-hour subdial. Love the 'extra' complexity.

Thank you, my CredorChad Fren. From the bottom of my heart, I always wish you happiness and peace.

Peace and prosperity to you, my Stiletto CitizenChad Fren.

I wish you all good health and happiness. Yes, even you, dearest BitterAnon. May you find peace in a tumultuous world.

The Speedy is a great watch, and the 861/321 movements are solidly built and reliable. Save up and get one grey market; right now Japan has bare-bones 1861s for around 4.5k. My Speedies have given me an absurd amount of pleasure over the years...I never get tired of them.

Get one, and enjoy the detail of the dial.

Hope all of you are well; one day someone will have to fill me in on the Anon who is visiting ladies-of-the-night...

Makes sense. If it's only auto, then yeah...I guess you have no choice but to wear it everyday (or get a watch winder?). Setting it once or twice a week is cool...given that the older generation might set theirs once a day to the radio time signal, one can see it as a gentle improvement of convenience.

>dials with steps and levels are cool...
