None of these are actually obscure, but I'm just trying to be helpful.

I think J. Press gets a lot of lip service but relatively few people wear their stuff because they have so few locations.

Normies don't seem to recognize Barbour.

The Andover Shop is a great store and alternative to J. Press.

Pantherella makes dank socks that go well into prep fits.

People outside of New England may not recognize Black Dog or Chatham Whites, but they're super preppy.

Alden is turbo-preppy if you're talking about shoes. Gucci horsebit loafers and driving mocs get hate because Gucci has so much tacky shit, but they work with preppy fits in a flashier way. Allen Edmonds makes a great horsebit loafer at a much better value than Gucci, and Alden ostensibly does but you can't find it anywhere.

J. Crew gets shit on because a lot of their stuff can be mall-tier, but their sweaters and ties are great. They were the only place I could find a linen tie in the pattern I wanted.

If you can get some of the Brooks Brothers gear that they make specifically for the Head of the Charles Regatta, that stuff's super legit.

Could tan chelsea boots look nice in a preppy look? Also, w2c cheap but okay-looking shorts? I wouldn't spend 70-100 bucks on shorts.

Collar over sweater is absolutely disgusting middle-class tier.

These threads are so heavy on inspo because it's guys trying to ape a style that they know looks good but requires being plugged into a certain culture to pull off well.

I see guys walking around Harvard (I don't go there but went to a different excellent private university in New England and live in Cambridge) who look like they just walked out of those 80s photos with only a couple of minor tweaks, and they still look fantastic.

Middle-class and lower kids trying to dress prep is where it falls apart and gets laughable.

Where are some /fa/ places to live?

I nominate Beacon Hill and Back Bay in Boston. Well dressed people who work in tech and finance living in beautiful historic architecture.
