Your logic is without sound. Progressivism does not directly mean a loss of morals, it can establish and create where there is none. This is clearly necessary, with several new ways the world is and we try to understand it.

Just as conservatism in its literal meaning, is capable of eroding and warping its own idea of identity and virtue, because the rationale of sticking to the old ways in the face of a changing world, often requires an unconditional leap of faith.
